Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, is a crazy but fascinating city. While planning our recent family trip to the Kingdom, we wanted to find a hotel out the rat race, but still close to the river front and cafes.
We struck gold! The Arun Villa is a perfect place to hang out, chill out and enjoy your time in the capital city. The property is extremely well presented, staff are attentive, if not a little shy. The rooms were spotlessly clean and very comfortable.
Downstairs is the small pool, not ideal for doing laps, but perfect for cooling off at the beginning, middle or end of a hot day. The gardens are well maintained and through out the villa are balconies with chairs and tables, perfect for a book or a snooze!
Breakfast was included and with freshly cooked eggs, toast, fruit, juices and coffee/tea, one could always start the day on a full tummy!
The location of the Arun Villa is down a small residential street away from the chaos of the city, but still only 10 minutes to the riverside, Central Market or the Russian Market. Several tuk tuk’s hang outside on the street, eager to take you anywhere you like, for a small fee!
Over all, we really enjoyed our stay at Arun. I have been traveling to Cambodia for over decade working as a Tour Guide and was one of the better properties I have stayed.
Note – Due to technical issues with my smart phone, only 1 image was saved. Beer and pool – it’s important! But photos on their website are accurate!
When you think of Siem Reap, immediate thoughts are of Angkor Wat and the “Great lake” Tonle Sap Lake – for good reason! But if you’re heading to Cambodia soon, make sure you check the fabulous people at
On a recent trip to Siem Reap, my 9 year old son and I booked an “Easy Ride” tour with Quad Adventure Cambodia, a 21km circuit around the Siem Reap country side, where you get to travel through rice paddies, villages and around pagoda’s.
The quads were great fun to ride and with the instructions given before the ride, super easy to ride and control. Bikes are 350cc and automatic, which makes life much easier! Plenty of stops are made to grab a drink, shot some photos and to ask questions.
Helmets are supplied and must be worn! Long pants would have been handy (clearly stated on their website – but we didn’t have), as the engine can get quite warm, but shorts worked. Water is also a must in the Cambodian heat.
The guide on the day, Piseth, was full of information and happy to chat about himself, Siem Reap, Cambodia and anything thing else of interest. Everyone we meet from the owner down, were professional, friendly and welcoming. The company provide hotel pick up / drop off – included in the tour price.
A fantastic afternoon on the dirt tracks that is highly recommended for young and old! Heck, we went back a few days later for a second ride!!
